Suzette Cohen-Simms, a Cable & Wireless employee for 23 years, has recently obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Phoenix. Mrs. Cohen-Simms graduated with a 3.79GPA.
The telecom not only provided her with a full scholarship, which included the cost of tuition and books, it also covered travel cost for her to attend the commencement ceremony, states a press release.
The company’s Chief Operations Officer Ian Tibbetts in congratulating her said, ‘We are very proud of Suzette and applaud her for the hard work and dedication it took to obtain a bachelors degree while working fulltime.’
The graduate in turn thanked those within the company who had given her guidance and support. ‘…It was a lot of hard work and discouraging at times but in the end, it was all worth it’.
Mrs. Cohen-Simms began the online BSc degree programme in 2002 after obtaining an Associates Degree the International College of the Cayman Islands. This too was sponsored by Cable & Wireless and was taken while working full-time, says the company release.
‘Going back to school taught me how to manage my time more efficiently. Taking care of my family, meeting deadlines at school and performing very demanding jobs which included Credit & Debt Manager, Mobile Financial Accountant and Anderson Square Manager all required a lot of juggling,’ she added.
In her present post as programme manager mobile, she is responsible for devising promotional programmes for mobile products.
Mrs. Cohen-Simms is married with an 11-year-old daughter.
