Cayman Drama Society lets punters take centre stage tonight
Do you know your Cats from your Cabaret, your Mamma Mia from your Miss Saigon? If the answer is a resounding yes – sung at the top of your lungs with jazz hands – then reserve a table for a quiz night with a difference, courtesy of the Cayman Drama Society, this evening (Friday).
CDS, which last year enjoyed universal acclaim with its well-received productions of Annie and Moon over Buffalo, among others, is holding a Broadway Trivia Night at the Prospect Playhouse at 7.30pm. And for those who want to whet their whistle before quiz, Happy Hour starts at 6.30pm, sharp.
With capacity for 19 teams and 12 spots already taken, there are still a few tables available for those who love show tunes and have a head for remembering arcane details about some of the best theatre productions to have hit the stage.
Groups of between four and six people will vie for a bevy of musical prizes for the top three teams.
Curtains open on what promises to be an entertaining evening with a 24-question ‘fill in the blanks round’ with snatches of songs from well-known musicals. Round one is followed by a wild card round and the trivia night takes a bow with a lightening round to determine the first, second and third prize winners.
The quizmasters for the night are Phil Pace and his ‘leading lady’ Nancy Saur. The CDS stalwart husband and wife team have spent ‘several hours online and combing through our music collection’ to compile the questions. ‘We hope the teams have just as much fun answering the questions as we had coming up with them,’ Mr. Pace said.
When asked what the prizes where, he said he wanted that to be a surprise, but added: ‘They are in keeping with the nature of the quiz’ and for more than that ‘you’ll have to take part and see’.
So, reserve your table, swing by, tuck into gourmet sandwiches from Penny’s Pantry and pit your wits against other teams for centre stage.
All ages are welcome, the evening promises to be quite a production.
