Feeding the future

Proceeds from a tuck-shop that feeds staff of an insurance firm will go towards buying lunches for children in need.

Aon Insurance Managers (Cayman) Limited announced it would support Feed Our Future, a not-for-profit organisation set up this year to fund school meals, by donating profits from the tuck-shop at its office.

Aon launched its internal tuck-shop last year to raise funds to buy an automated external defibrillator for its office. Once it met that goal, the company decided to continue to use proceeds from the tuck-shop to support local charities, under the slogan “Fill your stomach and help fill someone else’s”.

Aon made an initial $1,000 contribution to Feed our Future and will continue to donate proceeds from the shop.

Feed our Future funds nutritionally balanced school meals to children in need in Cayman through partnerships with government agencies, private companies, schools, and concerned citizens.

Stacey VanDevelde, chairwoman of Feed our Future said: “Our challenge is to help at-risk school-age children in the Cayman Islands to be physically nourished and equipped to learn. The readiness of the Aon management and staff to partner with Feed our Future through the proceeds of their tuck-shop will help us ensure that schoolchildren in need will receive the food they require for healthy mental and physical development.

“We are very appreciative of the generous support of Aon, an established top employer and corporate citizen, as they support our initiative towards a hunger-free Cayman Islands.”
