Riders leap for fun

Horse lovers can enjoy a fun day soon.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation is putting on a Autumn Fun Show this Saturday, 6 October, from 3pm. Among the activities slated for the Equestrian Centre, off Linford Pierson Highway, are gymkhana games, show jumping, bake sale, scavenger hunt and face painting.

The Gymkhana games will include a sack race, apple bobbing and walk trot canter lead (canter for advanced and intermediate classes only). Rider level classes will be divided into: Lead Line, Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced so all levels of rider can enjoy and participate. Horses can also be leased from the equestrian centre.

Gymkhana entry fee is $50 per class and covers participation in all the games.

Skills jumping will be in the upper sand arena. Riders will be able to practice some tricky turns and pick up points by completing their own jumping course in a set time. Maximum jump height classes are cross rails, 60 centimetres, 75cm, 85cm and one metre.

Jumping classes are $25 each per rider.
