The Cayman Drama Society is staging a musical production for one weekend only – and it’s this weekend. Showstoppers will be a concert-style show featuring songs from stage, screen and radio.
“We were originally slated to stage “Rent” but fell short by one male on the casting and wanted to have something really fun to fill the slot, at least partially,” says Director Neil Rooney. “We had staged a “Showstoppers” production a few years ago and it was great fun so, given the relatively short notice, it was a good solution. We also have some really terrific new young performers that we wanted to feature and this was a great way to get them some quality stage time.”
There will be a diverse selection of pieces performed including numbers from the Lion King, Spamalot, Tangled and other shows, as well as some Maroon 5, Adele, Lady Antebellum and many great comedic pieces.
There will be 15 performers, including some fresh talent, and some familiar faces from previous CDS productions, such as Dan Twist, Wendy Moore, Isabella Rooney and Rory Mann.
Performances take place at the Prospect Playhouse at 7.30pm on this Friday and Saturday, 23 and 24 November, and at 6pm on Sunday, 25 November. Tickets are available from the CDS box office. Call: 949-5054 or e-mail: [email protected]
