The Water Authority – Cayman is the latest organisation to announce a major donation to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and the Women Helping Women Memorial Fund.
Last week, the Authority pledged CI$5,000 to assist with the purchase of a digital mammogram machine.
‘The Water Authority – Cayman is pleased to support this fundraising effort,’ said Water Authority Board Chairman, Mr. Brainard Watler.
‘The Cayman Islands Cancer Society provides invaluable service in the Cayman community by facilitating early detection and treatment of affected persons, educating the public and in supporting the terminally ill and their loved ones.’
Dr. Sook Yin, Medical Director of the Cancer Society, said, ‘We are delighted by the support shown by the Water Authority. Having the best medical equipment in Cayman is key to ensuring the health and welfare of everyone living in the Cayman Islands. It is very re-assuring to see yet another major employer in Cayman getting behind this worthwhile cause.’
Chris Carpenter, Chairman of Fundraising for the Women Helping Women Memorial Fund, added his thanks to the Water Authority for its generous donation and hoped this would encourage other businesses in Cayman to support the project.
‘The goal of the Cancer Society is to purchase a new state-of-the-art digital mammogram machine and then donate this machine to the Cayman Islands Hospital so that every woman living in the Cayman Islands will be able to benefit from the new medical facilities.’
