Police are warning people who attend Public Beach, West Bay Road, to keep the noise down or face prosecution.
The warning comes after numerous complaints about loud and obscene music being played on the beach, said a RCIP press release.
Chief Inspector Richard Simms, Commander for the area said: ‘The public beach is there for the general use and enjoyment of the whole community.
‘We do not want to stop people having fun but we can not have persons using the public beach causing annoyance and discomfort to other beach goers and the owners and occupiers of property in the surrounding area.
‘Several complaints about obscene music being emitted from the beach have been received in recent months and this is particularly worrying for parents as it is played near to a children’s play park.’
The police will be prosecuting persons from now on who refuse to cease from making such noise and violate the law, the release said.
Fines range from $500 for a first offence to $5,000 and six months in prison for a third or subsequent conviction, the release said.
