Environmental All-stars shock Prison

Environmental All-stars survived a fright to upset an overconfident Prison team as The Money Express Division One Competition continued on Sunday in West Bay. Prison batted first and struggled for 35 over until they were bowled out for 104. Disrupting Prison’s batting were Derrick Williams with 2-20, Lockbourne Thompson 2-16 and David ‘Preacher’ Johnson with 2-8. In reply Simms’s guys were cruising home at 94-4- then Troy David with his innocuous off breaks threw the game on its head by taking 4 wickets in five balls including a rare hat-trick catapulting Environment to 96-8.

Thankfully the food cart arrived, lunch was taken and heads were cooled. On the resumption Environment got the runs without any further alarms. David’s amazing 6-16 would generally be match winning figures. Not so on Sunday.

Greenies easily overcame a struggling Paramount to record their first victory this year in the other first division match at Smith Road. Paramount was bundled out for 108 in 31 over. ‘Man of the match’, Scott ‘Watto’ Watson unveiled Paramount’s frail batting by removing four from the middle with his uncomplicated off trundles. The mean Hector Robinson maintained his reputation with 2 -19 from his 7 over. Steve Dawson announced his return to cricket with 2-20 and Michael Jackson (no not him) cleaned up wit 2-8. Watto then lead the pursuit with a robust 38 as Greenies duly reached the target with 6 wickets in hand.

Winfair made a solid reply compiling an opening stand of 59 in 17 overs. 97 runs in 18 overs with 9 wickets in hand should have been a breeze but Winfair fell away badly to be dismissed for 146. Fewer than 24 hours late Brac was lambasting School’s bowling at the John A Cumber playing field. The run glut was lead by a hurtling 118 by Steve Coates. Striking at a rate of over 200. Sahado Sohan (53) and Desrick Dawson (43) played supporting roles.

Omar Willis 2-40 from his 7 was the only bowler that was spared a hiding.

The youngsters replied with some spirit finishing 219-6. Gregory Smith would be satisfied with his 64, Willis may be disappointed that he fell 4 shy of his half century and young Ricardo Sealy remained consistent with 42 n.o
