Police have named a man killed after his car left the road and overturned on Cayman Brac last weekend.
The victim was Marcos Rivera, 34, originally from Honduras and a Brac resident.
Rivera is understood to have lived in Cayman for several years and was a keen footballer, turning out for George Town-based Latinos FC, which plays in the Cayman Islands Premier League.
The single-vehicle accident happened on the Sister Island’s West End East End Road, near White Bay Road at about 10pm on Sunday, 21 Sept.”
The car, a Hyundai i10 hatchback, left the road and overturned.
Emergency services battled to free the man from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road between the Rubis gas station and Paloma Drive was closed while accident investigators examined the scene but reopened just before 3pm on Monday.
Police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
The death is believed to be the fourth on Brac roads in two years.
