The body recovered in the waters off Seven Mile Beach on 7 June has been identified as Keneek McDonald.
The Compass has confirmed that McDonald went missing on Saturday, 6 June while riding a jet ski owned by Salt Watersports Cayman.

A statement issued by the Cayman Islands Coast Guard at 11pm on Saturday said, “a search-and-rescue operation was initiated on Saturday after a reporting party, who was known to the missing individual, discovered a riderless jet ski adrift approximately one mile offshore, off Seven Mile Beach”.
The search-and-rescue operation continued late into Saturday night and recommenced Sunday, 7 June at 5.30am. The body of the missing man was recovered before 11am Sunday morning.
McDonald’s Facebook page shows that he was father to young children, and he owned a company in the Cayman Islands called Atlantis Marine that provided custom boat work, fiberglass, gel coat, painting, rigging, lights, engine services and more.
It is not clear at this time what caused incident that resulted in the death of McDonald, but a statement from the office of the commissioner of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said further details will be released once appropriate lines of investigation allow for information to be released to the public.
Friends of McDonald took to social media expressing their shock and sadness at this sudden passing.
In July 2024, McDonald wrote two Facebook posts expressing the importance of appreciating life while you have it, in one post he said, “Some people don’t know the real value of life until it’s no more. Living is your greatest wealth; to breathe, to sleep, and wake up, see the ones you love.”
