Drive Safe Cayman

We’ve lost too many people on the roads this year, so Drive Safe this summer.

  1. Pull over for any emergency vehicle. (It could be your family, or friend they are trying to help!)
  2. Don’t drink and drive
  3. Always use your turn signal
  4. Stay in the left lane unless you’re passing. (Did you know the RIGHT LANE is the PASSING LANE?)
  5. Don’t block ‘speeders.’ It’s not your job and you don’t know if they have a medical emergency and are on their way to the hospital
  6. Make sure your lights are in good working order, are clean and adjusted correctly to offer you the most visibility while not blinding on-coming vehicles
  7. Don’t use ‘high breams’ when cars and pedestrians are around. Your road is brighter, but you’re blinding others
  8. Don’t speed
  9. Put your phone away when you drive; Distracted driving is dangerous driving
  10. Don’t eat and drive (this can be as distracting as drinking and driving)
  11. Don’t put your make up on during your commute
  12. Use the round about safely – know your lane, give way, use your signal, be cautious and share the road
  13. Bicycles and electric scooters are some of the alternative modes of transport out there. Be aware of them. If you’re riding, be aware that you’re harder to see.
  14. Keep your distance – tailgating is dangerous
  15. Make sure your tires have the proper pressure in them
  16. Slow down in the rain as the roads can become extremely slippery
  17. Slow down when passing construction and landscaping crews
  18. The center turning lanes are not for over-taking
  19. Be courteous to other drivers and set an example
  20. Don’t use certain medications and drive
  21. Don’t get ‘high’ and drive
