Originally from Cape Town, SA, Elphina spent her formative years in the U.K. An alumna of Hull University and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), she is a past recipient of Granada Television and the George Viner Memorial Fund (National Union of Journalists) scholarships. During and after her postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism from UCLan’s School of Journalism and Media, she freelanced for BBC Radio Merseyside and co-presented/produced the station’s “yoof” program. Since moving to Cayman, Elphina has segued from news to features writing, enjoying a two-year spell heading up the Compass’s Special Publications Department. A journalist/editor in Special Publications, outside of work, she enjoys world literature, pub quizzes and spending time with her family – not necessarily in that order.
