"Try Before You Buy" has been the Merle Norman Cosmetic Company's way of selling for the past 35 years since its founding. Their Three Steps to Beauty are an All Purpose Cold Cream, a beautifying lotion called Miracol, and a waterproof protective Powder Base that now comes in 16 different shades.
This unusual company, now produces 42 shades of lipstick, 3 shades of Lip Toner, Lip Gloss, Lipliners, 29 shades of Nail Enamel, 6 related nail beauty products, a selection of fashion shades in stick, fluid, and brush-on eye shadow. brush-on eyebrow colors, hair spray, eyeliners, special skin care creams, deodorants, body lotion, shampoos, tanning oil and tanning lotion, bath products, and a varied selection of fragrances in perfumes, colognes, and bath powders.
The company also sells a line of grooming aids for men under the label, Norman For Men. None of these products are sold over the counter in drug or department stores. They are sold only in the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios.
Each cosmetic Studio owner and her demonstrators receive intensive training from the Merle Norman Cosmetic company's training staff, and each cosmetic Studio is kept aware and trained in the very latest make-up techniques.
Each prospective customer is invited to make an appointment with her local Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio for a personalized demonstration. During this demonstration she enjoys a relaxed, free one-hour demonstration of the Three Steps skin care with expert counsel on beauty techniques and a complimentary make-up. There is no charge for this service and each customer is invited to try the various cosmetics.
