The Sobeyville Baptist Church Stake Bay was the very happy scene of the wedding of Miss Hyacinth Rivers, the loved and popular granddaughter of Capt. and Mrs. Kenneth Ritch of Stake Bay to Mr. Dervyn Scott, equally loved and popular twin son of Capt. and Mrs. Clyde Scott of the West End.

Both these young people have grown up here and have helped their parents in their businesses and the happy atmosphere of their wedding was because everyone shared their joy.
The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. A soft golden curtain formed the background of the platform. Baskets of natural gladioli blooms from the States offset by palm fronds was a scene of beauty. Leaf sprays touched with tiny flowered centres over the doors and windows carried out the pattern. Against this beautiful background the bridal party entered the aisle which was cordoned with white ribbon and spread with a white carpet. The bridesmaids wore full length evening gowns of taffeta and lace in colours of ice blue, soft pink, sky blue, daffodil, gold, powder blue and lemon green. Each wore a tulle caplet caught by a single rose over the forehead and carried matching posies. The sister of the groom Miss Glorine Scott was Maid of Honour and following in order were Mrs. Boyce Scott (Lorraine), Connie Watler, Patsy Ann Scott, Julie Rutty and Karon Ritch.

Mervyn Scott was Bestman for his twin brother and was followed by groomsmen Boyce and Kirby Scott, brothers. Truman Bodden, Geoffrey Rutty and Rodney Rutty. Flower girls were Elizabeth Tibbetts and Shirley Hurlstone and the Ring bearer was Jerry Kirkconnell.

While awaiting the bride the Rev. Lee King sang "Whither Thou Goest" and Mrs. Moevylyn Bodden sang "O, Perfect Love", Mrs. Sheila Ritch played the piano.

The bride was beautiful and graceful as she entered on the arm of her grandfather. She wore a full length gown of white nylon embossed with lilies of the valley and leaves over taffeta - her bouquet was of roses and lilies of the valley. A short veil was held by a silver crown. While they stood side by side at the altar Mrs. Hebe Massias sang "Through Life Together" Mr. W. Taylor Foster performed the double ring ceremony.

As the bride and groom left the church Mr. Nolan Foster rang joy bells.

The reception at the Buccaneer's Inn was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Capt. Eldon Kirkconnell toasted the bride and groom expressing the happiness of both families, which have been Contd. on P. 8 Col. 2 Wedding Contd. from P 1 close friends through generations, in the union of the young couple.

Mrs. Pat Kirkconnell decorated the church. Mrs. Pat Benefield and her daughters Sandra and Kathy did a lovely job in the setting at the Buccaneer's Inn for the reception.
