A saintly and much loved citizen of Grand Cayman, Mrs. Olga Irene DaCosta of Savannah, passed away on Thursday the 22nd at the age of 64 years. Many people from all over the island attended the funeral service which began in her home and then proceeded to the Church of God (Full Gospel) Hall at Savannah, of which she was a member, and was concluded at the Spotts Cemetery where the mortal remains were interred. Mrs. DaCosta was born on the 5th September 1903 and on the 19th May 1921 was married to Augustine DaCosta who preceded her in death on the 12th October 1961.

She was saved under the Ministry of Bro. O'Toole many years ago and was ordained to the deaconship of the Church of God on the 16th February 1947. Left to mourn the sad loss of a beloved mother are Wilbur, Audrey (Mrs. Carl Thompson), Cardinal, Hartmann, Zilphie (Mrs. John Keith Bodden), and Kadie (Mrs. Stanton Ebanks).

Her eldest son, Lindo, died on the 5th August 1944. Also ten grandchildren including the second daughter of Cardinal and Suzie DaCosta. born on the 19th Feb. who is to be named Olga Elizabeth; three daughters-in-law Innis, Susan and Jeannie, her three sons-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends. During the funeral service in the Church, a poem written by the deceased in 1965 was read by Elder Will T. Bodden who gave the Obituary. Pastor Fossie Arch read from Rev. 7 v.9-17 and used as the text for his Address Psalm 100 v. 15-16. Speaking of the 35 years of warm fellowship he had enjoyed with Sister Olga, Mr. Arch expressed assurance that she had gone home to be with her Saviour. In a life full of tribulation she had many times been healed by God but this time He had called her home. Prayers were offered by Bro. Luke Forbes and Bro. Art Fowler and favourite hymns of the deceased, including "Blessed Lily of the Valley" were sung. Thanks were expressed on behalf of the family to Nurse Holloway and Mrs. Gladys Conolly who had looked after Mrs. DaCosta during the four weeks prior to her death.
