A Cable and Wireless worker who started as a £2 a week Telegraph Operator has been appointed a Director of the Cable and Wireless group of companies. The worker, Mr. W.H. Davies is now 51 years old and has been staff manager of the Cable and Wireless group for the past six years.

He joined the Company in 1933. Mr. Davis is married and has four children. His wife Mrs. Eve Davies is Captain of the British foil team for the Olympics at Mexico this year. Mrs. Davies has been for some years a British Fencing International.
