The comment came during his speech on the Budget Address. Financial Secretary Mr. Vassell Johnson, was highly praised by the Member for his dedication and hard work in bringing the Budget to the House.
Mr. Smith also commended the member for Health Education and Social Service, Mr. Truman Bodde, for work well done in his portfolio; but the emphatically, lashed out on existing poor conditions at the hospital.
He urged the member responsible to "Move some of the people there (at the hospital) before the people of the Cayman Islands decide to take action." Elaboration on his commnet, Mr. Smith said the only way poor conditions at the hospital will be aleviated is to Contd. on page 2 from page 1 move some of the people who mean this country no good. Supporting his stand taken against the institution, he referred to a medical case reported to him by a man from his constituency.
The man then an in-patient, and partly paralysed, was told he would be thrown out, if he did not get out, as the bed was needed for someone else. An investigation revealed there were six empty beds at the time the Member said.
He also expressed pleasure at the recommendation of the British Government's approval for appointment of a Ship Registrar, for the Cayman Islands as well as hope to realise full operation by year end.
