Going to sea at a very early age, he worked himself up to the rank of captain and sailed the seas for many years until his retirement a number of years ago.,
He was married to the former Mabel Hayes, who preceded him in death twentyone years ago.
Following his retirement, Captain Donald, as everyone knew him, returned home to Cayman Brac, starting a small grocery store which he continued to operate until a few months ago when his health began to fail and he was unable to carry on.
In July of last year, he was placed in the rest home, where he remained until it was necessary to remove him to the hospital, where he remained until his death.
He leaves to mourn nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Captain Donald was a member of the Creek Baptist Church and attended faithfully as long as possible. May God rest his soul in peace.
Interment was in Creek Cemetery. The funeral was held at the Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 19, with the Reverend Lee King officiating, assisted by the Reverend David Agron.
Pallbearers were E.K. Hurlstone, E.A. Hurlstone, Nolan Foster, Ira Bodden, Beresford Jackson, and Fred Ryan.
