TAIPEI – The Ministry of Education, which has final say on holding International Sports events in Taiwan, yesterday rejected the proposed Muhammad Ali-John Tate Championship fight.

Tsai Min-Chung, Director of physical education for the Ministry, said "The time is too short to prepare an International bout. If we sponsor one, we want it to be good."

The application to hold the fight around June 27 in Taipei was filed by Asia tourism development corp., a private Taiwanese enterprise, and Greg Campbell, a sports promoter who arrived in Taipei last Sunday to negotiate the proposed $15 million match.
