REUTER - President Reagan is in excellent health and has full recovered from being shot in the chest during an attempt to assassinate him on March 30, the White House said Sunday.
Mr. Reagan, 70, completed two days of tests Saturday in his annual medical examination at the Bethesda Navy Hospital outside Washington and then flew to his Camp David retreat in Maryland for the weekend. A brief statement by White House physician Daniel Ruge said: "The President is in excellent health. His blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory functions are normal. He is fully recovered from the gunshot wound suffered on March 30."
Mr. Reagan was examined by a team of 14 specialists in five medical fields. It was his first checkup since he was shot.
His wife Nancy, who also underwent her annual medical examination, accompanied him to Camp David. They planned to return to the White House Monday.
