No one ever enters God's work full-blown. There is constant growth. We develop as we serve. God never puts us in a place for which we are not equipped in ability and strength. He made us according to a plan, and His engineering stresses are correct. Human architects can make mistakes. Not often, but occasionally, they fail to allow enough stress on a piece of steel or they make some other miscalculation. God knew us before we were ever formed, and He calculated everything perfectly.

The story is told of a new ship on its trial run. A severe storm brought fear to all of the passengers but one. Someone asked, "Does it not concern you that this ship could go down any moment?" The man answered, "I have no worry. I designed this ship, and I built into it all the stress it would need in the time of storm." When God put you together, He was aware of all the stresses you would need for the storms of life. Being aware of your needs, He prepared you to weather the storms; and He sustains you in your service for Him. God designed you for a special place. You may not know that place yet; but He knows it, and He has prepared you to fill that place. God has a plan and purpose, He appoints the place, and He protects you as you fill that post. Sometimes you may think that you are standing alone. Elijah felt that way once, yet there were 7,000 who had not bowed the knee to Baal.

If you stand true to God, He will help you bring your work to fruition. A host may rise against you and kill you, but you are still the victor. Every drop of blood you shed for Jesus can become a seed from which a saint shall rise up to stand in the gap.
