Brussels, Belgium - Belgium will play Holland Oct. 16 at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium here and not at the Heysel Stadium where 39 people died in riots before the European Champions Cup final, the head of the Belgian Soccer Federation said Tuesday.

Talks are under way between officials of the soccer federation, the police and stadium about security at the 40,000-capacity facility, said Soccer Federation President Louis Wouters in an interview.

The Constant Vanden Stock Stadium in the western part of the Belgian capital was formerly known as the Astrid Park Stadium. It is home of first division team Anderlecht. "There are 40,000 seats at the Anderlecht Stadium. But that number may well be reduced for security reasons," Wouters said. "Talks about this are continuing."

FIFA, the Geneva-based world soccer organization, has ruled out the Heysel Stadium as a venue for the Belgium-Holland match.

Thirty-nine soccer fans died in riots before the start of the May 29 Liverpool-Juventus European Cup final after British soccer fans charged into a neighboring section holding Italian fans.

A Belgian parliamentary commission later found security at the stadium had been insufficient and accused police of seriously failing to contain the violence.
