Tokyo (AP) - World champion Han Aiping easily, beat fellow Chinese Gu Jiaming 11-4, 11-5 in 20 minutes Sunday and won the women's singles crown in the 80,000-dollar Japan Open Badminton Championships.

In the men's final, Nick Yates of England struggled to an 18-13, 9-15, 15-5 victory over China's Zhang Qingwu before 3,200 spectators in Tokyo. Yates took home 5,200 dollars.

Han, who collected 4,000 dollars, told reporters: "The game went as I had planned."

Both top-seeded Morten Frost of Denmark and No. 2 seed Zhao Jianhua of China withdrew from the men's singles due to injuries.
