NISSAN 3 QUARRY P. 0 In the first game played on Saturday between Nissan and Quarry Products, Nissan defeated Quarry by three goals to one. Nissan went on the attack from the outset, finding the gaps and firing successive shots at goal from the boots of Gary Berry, Ossie Boden and Kennedy Kelly.

In the 15th minute of the game a penalty was awarded to Nissan and taken by Ossie but his kick went straight into the waiting arms of Anthony Fredricks in goal for Quarry.

Following the missed kick, Sinclair Watler, Nobie Edwards and Eric Dixon combined well, but were constantly robbed of the ball by Ronnie Roach, Tommy Wood and Ray McLaughlin in defence. About the 22nd minute of the game, a corner was awarded to Nissan and converted into a goal by Ossie, who compensated for his previous mistake.

Quarry on the other hand tried hard to match skills with their opponents but even without the services of Arnold Berry and six others of their regular starters, Nissan was nevertheless by far the better of the two teams. After taking an analytical look at Quarry's defence, Ronnie Roach moved from defence to strengthen Nissan's forward line. He was immediately given a neat pass by Kennedy Kelly, who came out of retirement to help his former club.

Controlling the ball under adverse conditions, Ronnie fired a thunderous right footer from outside of the 18 yard box to register his team's second goal.

The remainder off the first half was evenly contested without another goal being scored by either team.

Ten minutes into the second half, Nissan scored their third goal through the combination of Ossie, Peterkin Berry and Ronnie before the ball was laid to rest in the back of the net by Peterkin. Quarry's only moment of joy came in the 72nd minute of the game, After receiving a good grounder from Randy McLean, Ricketts McLaughlin made no mistake in firing a hard right footer into the roof of the net.

Following Quarry's goal, Eric Dixon, Philip Dixon and Randy McLean fired some heavy shots at goal, but substitute keeper Dwayne Seymour repeatedly brought off some spectacular saves.

Just before the end of the game, Kenneth Wood, who had a good game, was alone with the goalie, but was prevented from taking a shot by the quick thinking Fredricks in goal for Quarry.

Two minutes following Fredricks' good save, the final whistle was blown by referee Rupert Hilett with the score still standing at three goals to one in favour of Nissan.
