Free TV rights for Pan-Am Games
HAVANA, Reuter - The Cuban government will not charge two U.S. television networks for the right to cover the 1991 Pan-American Games in Cuba, the games' chief organiser has said.

Jose Ramon Fernandez, president of the organising committee, told reporters that ABC and CNN would have to pay only for services and equipment rentals during the games, scheduled for August.

The U.S. Treasury Department had refused to give a licence to ABC's parent company, Capital Cities/ABC Inc, saying network coverage of the games would involve paying up to six million dollars in television rights to the Cuban government.

The Trading with the Enemy Act forbids any U.S. business with Cuba.
