Basseterre, St Kitts, CANA-Nevis were in line for the Barclays PLC Leeward Islands cricket title despite losing on first innings in a drawn match against St Kitts here this week.

The draw meant Nevis and St Kitts were tied at the top of the standings on 36 points, but the Nevisians have a game in hand against Montserrat.

The in-form Kittitian middle order batsman Winston Davis on Monday became only the third Leeward Islands batsman to score centuries in both innings of a match. Davis knocked up 112 in the first innings and an undefeated 107 when St Kitts batted a second time. Veron Edwards of Antigua and Barbuda and Kittitian Stephen Liburd previously achieved the two-centuries-in-an-innings feat.

The result left Nevis favourites to dethrone defending champions Antigua and Barbuda.
