Robbie Fowler fired his 18th goal of the season in the 17th minute after a neat interchange of passes with Ian Rush. Substitute Dwight Yorke leveled in the 65th minute by turning in a center from Dean Saunders. And the Trinidadian striker scored the winner nine minutes from the end from Ray Houghton's pass. 45,347.

Blackburn 0 Ipswich 0
Ipswich missed a series of chances early in the second half but Canadian goalie Craig Forrest also had to defy injury-hit Blackburn with three good saves from Ian Pearce, Alan Shearer and Colin Hendry. 20,633.

Chelsea 3 Sheffield United 2 (0-1)
Striker Jostein Flo fired United ahead with a powerful shot in the 30th minute but Chelsea defender Jakob Kjeldbjerg turned in a Denis Wise free kick for an equalizer in the 57th. Glyn Hodges restored the visitor's lead three minutes later but Chelsea striker Mark Stein, who had missed the previous 14 games through injury, scored the goals to send United down. In the 74th minute, he took a pass from Frank Sinclair to fire Chelsea's second leveller, and only 30 seconds remained when he rifled in a shot from another Wise center. 21,782.

Dean Holdsworth gave Wimbledon a fourth minute lead from the penalty spot after Everton's Swedish midfielder, Anders Limpar, had handled. It looked worse for Everton in the 20th minute when defender Gary Ablett turned Andy Clarke's shot into his own net. Four minutes later, Wimbledon's Peter Fear was judged to have tripped Limpar and Graham Stuart scored from the penalty spot. Welsh midfielder Barry Horne equalized in the 67th minute with a 30-yard shot and Stuart scored the winner nine minutes from the end after taking a pass from Tony Cottee. 31,297.
Newcastle 2 Arsenal 0 (0-0)
Andy Cole fired a goal against his former club in the 47th minute, tapping in after Peter Beardsley's shot had been blocked by Arsenal goalie Alan Miller. It was Beardsley's turn 20 minutes later from the penalty spot after Lee Dixon had brought down John Beresford. 32,216.

Oldham went ahead in the 14th minute when Mark Brennan's shot appeared to be going wide, but landed at the feet of Sean McCarthy who scored from close range. Norwich substitute Neil Adams, a former Oldham player, set up the 72nd minute equalizer with a center to Robert Ullathorne, who volleyed in. 20,394.
Sheffield Wednesday 1 Manchester City 1 (1-0)
Wednesday broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, Mark Bright turning the ball to Gordon Watson who fired his 14th of the season. City levelled in the 48th, when Peter Beagrie's free kick was met by Uwe Rosler, who squeezed his header in at the far post. 33,773.

Leeds went ahead in the 18th minute when Brian Deane turned in a Rod Wallace pass from close range. David White fired the second 10 minutes later with a shot that deceived Swindon goalie Paul Heald. Wallace made up for a bad miss eight minutes earlier by scoring the third in the 58th minute and Deane scored his second of the game in the 67th. Swindon was hanging on to a 99 goals conceded total before Chris Fairclough made it 100 with the final kick of the game. 17,539.
Tottenham 1 Queens Park Rangers 2 (1-1)
Rangers went ahead in the 36th minute when Trevor Sinclair finished off an attractive move involving Ian Holloway, Ray Wilkins and Les Ferdinand with a low shot. The Spurs equalized three minutes later through Teddy Sheringham after another neat buildup involving newcomer Danny Hill, Vinny Samways and Darren Anderton. The winner came in the 77th minute when powerfully-built Devon White climbed to meet a cross from veteran Ray Wilkins and Sinclair was there to fire home. 26,105.
West Ham 3 Southampton 3 (1-1)
Teen-age midfielder Danny Williamson fired the Hammers ahead in the 10th minute only for Matt Le Tissier to level for the Saints with a curling free kick in first half injury time. Neil Maddison put Southampton ahead seven minutes into the second half from Le Tissier's center but Martin Allen equalized in the 62nd minute. Three minutes later, Le Tissier struck again, this time from the penalty spot after Tony Gale had fouled Iain Dowie. After a good-humored field invasion by home fans who thought the game had finished, the referee took the players off the field. When they returned, Lee Chapman headed an equalizer from Tim Breacker's cross. 26,952.
