The show, which was first performed in early December, received praise from audience members, as well as a letter (Caymanian Compass, 14 December) which said the CDS play "equalled, if not surpassed, the Broadway production".
"Agnes of God" will be on the boards at the Propect Playhouse on 19 and 20 January. The Friday performance will be dinner theatre for $25 and admission for the Saturday showing will be $12:50. All drinks will be served at happy hour prices.
The season will continue in February with an "Old Time Variety Music Hall" show, which includes skits and music by CDS members. This will be on stage between 5 and 10 February.
"Camelot", directed by Alan Hall, will be produced on 18 April to 11 May. The script for the musical is based on the original story.
The continuation of a series of "Fawlty Towers" shows will be performed on the weekends between 6 and 22 June. The script, rewritten by Colin Wilson, combines two episodes of the popular British TV show. The episodes are "The Anniversary" and "The Germans".
Bill Bazelmans, who directed "Agnes of God", will bring the touching comedy "Force of Habit" to life on the stage in August.
The play unravels the tale of a circus ringmaster who sees himself as a musical meastro and forces a motley assortment of circus artists to rehearse Shuberts' trout quintet.
The CDS agenda turns from laughter to tears in November when Steven Taylor directs "View From a Bridge", about an immigrant Italian family in New York after World War II. The tragedy was written by Arthur Miller. The year rounds up in January 1997 with a pantomime version of "Beauty and the Beast". Colin Wilson adapted the original script to incorporate aspects of the popular Disney film. Mr. Wilson will also direct.
This year's schedule will be overseen by a new committee, which is chaired by Mr. Wilson. Other officers are Anthony Smith, treasurer; Penny Phillips, secretary, and Peter Phillips, theatre manager. Committee members are Steven Taylor, Bill Bazelmans, Molly Maxwell, Ann Hetley and Peter Pasold.
