Wimbledon, near the bottom of the table in the regular-season standings and fighting relegation, outplayed Chelsea for most of the match but eventually needed a come-from behind hero in Holdsworth to force the replay.
Robbie Earle put Wimbledon ahead early in the second half, but Mark Hughes tied the match in the 71st minute - a goal that seemed to take the spirit out of Wimbledon.
Gullit looked to have administered the final blow - delighting the home crowd - on an indirect free kick in the 81st minute. But Holdsworth, taking advantage of Chelsea's momentary loss of concentration as the celebrated the apparent win, scored less than a minute later. The draw left the FA Cup without its first semifinalist. Leeds will face Liverpool on Sunday in another sixth-round game with the winner moving to the semifinals. Manchester United plays Southampton on Monday in another sixth-round game.
In a fifth-round FA Cup match replay, Nottingham Forest defeated Tottenham 3-1 on penalties after the game was a 1-1 draw through regulation and extra time. Dutch international Bryan Roy scored early for Nottingham Forest and Teddy Sheringham equalized in the 33rd minute.
In the day's only three Premier League matches: Aston Villa 4, Queens Park Rangers 2; Everton 2, Coventry 2; West Ham 2, Middlesbrough 0.
Aston Villa moved into a third place tie with Liverpool with the come-from-behind victory. Liverpool also has 55 points, trailing league-leader Newcastle with 61 and Manchester United with 60.
