Kingston, Jamaica,, Cana - Leader of the opposition Jamaica Labour Party Edward Seaga, has married long-time aide Carla Vendryes, 36, in a private ceremony at his Paddington Terrace, St. Andrew home.

The wedding on Friday was followed by a public reception attended by over 500 guests at the poolside of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. The ceremony was brought forward one day earlier than originally planned.

A release from Seaga, 67, said the change was made to enable the couple to leave for Japan on Saturday where Seaga was scheduled to address an international conference on, "the role of the island and Commonwealth nations in the coming Pacific century".

After the conference the Seagas are expected to travel to China.
