Brazil (AP) - Soccer experts call him the best player in Brazil. Now, Rivaldo belongs to Deportivo La Coruna of Spain.

Rivaldo, in training camp with Brazil's Olympic team, announced on Tuesday he had agreed to terms of a five-year contract with the Spanish club.

Details were not revealed. But major newspapers reported that Deportivo would pay $8 million for the 24-year-old midfielder, plus a monthly salary of between $100,000 and $120,000.

The club reportedly also agreed to pay up front a sum of dlrs 1.2 million, equivalent to 15 percent of the transfer price. Brazilian law entitles players to that percentage, but Deportivo had sought to pay it in installments.

Rivaldo played for Palmeiras, but his contract was owned by Italian dairy giant Parmalat, the club's sponsor. Parmalat officials said Rivaldo's standout season with Palmeiras, the Sao Paulo state champion, and on the Brazilian national team had made him too expensive to keep.

National team coach Mario Zagallo named Rivaldo as one of Brazil's three wild cards on the Olympic team, ahead of World Cup champions Romario and Dunga.
