Eduardo Pizarro, a National University professor, was rushed to the nearby Palermo clinic, where he was treated for two bullet wounds, one in the leg and another in the backside, said clinic director Dr. Juan de Francisco.
"Fortunately the wounds are not serious. He's out of danger," Pizarro's brother, Juan Antonio, told Radionet radio. Another brother, Carlos, was the charismatic leader of the leftist M-19 guerrilla movement until it disbanded in 1989.
Carlos Pizarro was a presidential candidate when he was assassinated on April 26, 1990.
Wednesday's attack comes just three months after a close friend and colleague of Eduardo Pizarro, political scientist Jesus Bejarano, was assassinated at National University, where he taught economics.
