The games are being held on Isle of Man on July 7-13, 2001 and are for small islands with a population of less than 100,000 people.
Isle of Man is located in Western Europe in the Irish Sea between Ireland and Great Britain with a population of 72,017 and is a British Crown Dependency Territory.
Accordingly, the Cayman Islands will be sending a senior men's and women's team to participate. Volleyball is the main sport of many of the competing Islands and is the second largest sport being played behind football at the Island Games. The level of competition is expected to be very high with a total of 84 matches scheduled. At the last Island Games, both Cayman teams improved their standing by two seats with the women finishing 9th overall, and the Men's finishing 7th overall, and local talent Shervin Rankin capturing Best Spike and Most Valuable Player awards from the entire mens field.
The CI senior national teams need the support of the people and corporate sponsors to ensure Cayman is able to participate and make a good showing for Cayman.
