According to press reports, Cayman's Johnny Widmer led the Under-12s boys rankings on Golf Tuesday, following the first round in this year's Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf championships at the Barbados Golf Club. The tournament also includes boys and girls 13-15 categories.

Widmer's individual gross points of 76, however, saw him only marginally ahead of second placed Omorry James. Darren Broadley from the host island placed third on after the first day on 83 points. Fourth placed was Jamaica's Adrian Bradford on 86.

The Cayman Islands golf team lay in eighth place overall on 18½ points, with the girls also placing eighth (out of nine). The boys team fared better in sixth position on 13½ points in front of the Dominican Republic (12), the US Virgin Islands (11) and the Bahamas on 10½ points.

Jamaica was the early leader after the first round of the Hank James Trophy and owed their position to their girl's team, which contributed 28 of their 45½ points, putting them ahead of nearest team Trinidad and Tobago on 38½ points.
