World-class underwater photography will be on show at the Skin Diver Film Festival next Thursday, 24 January.

Open to the public, the event, hosted by Skin Diver Magazine and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, starts at 7pm reception at the Marriott Hotel, with the presentations beginning at 7.30pm and ending at 9pm. Featuring the work of award winning photographers David Doubilet, Cathy Church and Al Hornsby, the slide presentations promise to offer fascinating and insightful views of marine species and their habitats.

David Doubilet's presentation is titled "Great White Sharks and Other Fascinating Creatures of the Sea". He will be displaying and discussing his unpublished images of the Great Whites from recent trips to South Africa and Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

The photographer has won many prizes including the prestigious Sara Prize and International Award given by Mondo Sommerso magazine in Italy. Doubilet's most recent book "Water, Light, Time" was published in 1999. He is an established freelancer for the National Geographic Society.

Cathy Church will present "Descending" an arrangement of her underwater images of Grand Cayman with accompanying sound track. Ms Church has been recording the underwater world since 1967. She received the NOGI award for the Arts in 1987, the DEMA "Reaching Out Award" in 2000 and was inducted into Woman Divers Hall of Fame the same year. Photo editor for Skin Diver magazine for 15 years, her work has appeared in dozens of publications.

Al Hornsby presents "Night Moves", a three-projector presentation of the wonders that the night brings to the undersea world.
