But Chamber Programmes Director, Tina Trumbach, told the Caymanian Compass yesterday that the telecom companies are being secretive about their booth designs and showcases. Those companies are Cable and Wireless, AT&TWireless, CaymanTel and Digicell. Continued on page 8 from page 1 Digicell, Ms Trumbach noted, is the Expo's major sponsor.
"All telecom companies are keeping their booths as a big surprise, but I do know that Digicell will be holding a raffle every hour on the hour at their booth on Thursday and Friday," Ms Trumbach revealed. She also reported that a highlight of this evening's opening ceremony is an address from Digicell's Chief Executive Officer, Seamus Lynch.
The theme for Expo visitors this year is "Everything Cayman has to offer right under one roof". The theme for exhibitors is "Jump-start your business".
"Every single booth is sold out and we've even had some last-minuterequests to accommodate some companies, but the entire venue is sold out," the programmes director confirmed, adding that there are 53 exhibitors overall.
This evening is open to Chamber members and their guests only, with the evening's activities including speeches by the Governor, Mr. Bruce Dinwiddy, and various Chamber officials. Booths will also be judged this evening and the George Hicks High School Swing Band will provide music. Refreshments will be by Barnes Bartending Service and Hovres d'Oeuvres will be prepared by the Cayman Islands Culinary Society. Other food vendors include Hard Rock Café and Mise En Place Professional Catering.
A fashion show is also scheduled with clothing by Appealing Apparel and Le Classique.
Expo activities on Friday and Saturday are open to the public from noon to 9pm Friday, and from 10am-4pm Saturday.
Ms Trumbach said several prize drawings will be held each day, whereby Expo-goers can enter to win the grand prize of an all-expensepaid trip to the Sister Islands. They can also win a weekend at the Holiday Inn, and a full spa package from Spa De Soul.
Individual booth demonstrations of products and services are also expected, as well as stage demonstrations by the Cayman Islands Natural Body Building, and Olympic Martial Arts Centre, Tae Kwon Do.
The grand prize drawing will take place at 3:45pm Saturday.
Brand Sponsors for this year's Expo are: Cayman National, DHL, and Tortuga Rum Company. Vibe FM is the official radio station and will be broadcasting live periodically.
