If you're fishing for a getaway to Jamaica this month, you may want to look at a fun way to involve your kids in your trip.

For the young ones up to age 16, the first-ever Sir Henry Morgan Junior Angling Tournament at Morgan's Harbour Hotel & Marina in Port Royal could be a big catch. The tournament takes place from Friday, December 17th to Sunday December 19th 2004. This enviable gathering of die-hard marlin fishermen and women is filled with simply brilliant stories of great times and great catches, ever since the inception of the PAIMT in 1959. These tales rival the even greater wealth of pirates' lore, which is rapidly coming to life again at the "new" Morgan's Harbour Hotel & Marina, the home of a treasure chest of memories, currently being repolished to assume its rightful place as the crown jewel of Port Royal.

The brainchild shared by the Morgan's Harbour team and the Angling Association, the twoday fishing tournament will see young people up to age 16 years

(including the affectionatelytermed "Small Fry" through to age 10 years) vying for prizes including "Heaviest Fish"; "Grand Champion Small Fry" and "Grand Champion Junior Angler.” Registration and a reception, hosted by Morgan's Harbour Hotel & Marina, is Friday, December 17th. Rounding things out will be an awards function on the evening of Sunday, December 19th.at 7.00 p.m. As the participants will be on Christmas holidays, the Junior Angling Tournament fits in nicely with school schedules.

Organizers of this first-time in Jamaica tournament have plans for training the new up-andcoming generation of anglers in becoming handy with fishing knots, hooks and bait and in how to handle lines and rods.

All boats, which would like to participate, will be required to have at least two (2) children on board in order to be eligible. to compete. Right up there with its grown-up counterpart, the Junior Angling Tournament is part of a plan to woo the international boating community to the island for sport, and blue marlin, offshore fishing out of Port Royal, Kingston.

Ultimately the aim is to gain the International Game Fish Association's recognition of the Sir Henry Morgan Junior Angling Tournament for the Junior Angler World Championship. (J.A.W.C.) Tournament, an annual invitational fishing competition that draws anglers from around the world. Foreign anglers who participate annually in the Port Antonio and Port Royal tournaments are likely to take the word back home about this specially conceived competition.
