The annual Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo provides once again the opportunity for Chamber members to promote their products and services to a large local audience. The Expo, now in its 18th year, will be held from Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 October at the Family Life Centre off Walkers Road.
Since its inception, the Business Expo has helped Chamber members in educating consumers about the range of products and services that is available in Cayman. In the process, member businesses have won new customers, generated substantial sales and established important business to business contacts. Many member businesses that have participated in the event over the years have reported millions of dollars in sales, says Chamber of Commerce CEO Wil Pineau, CCE.
Thirty new businesses launched at the Expo during the past 18 years.
Since the first show in 1991, the Business Expo has undergone significant changes to keep in step with the advances in the marketplace. The show started with wooden booth structures in an open air facility and was moved indoors in 2007 into an air conditioned environment to allow more sophisticated displays to be erected and to provide the public with a more pleasant shopping environment.
The venue at the Family Life Centre, a setting with excellent sound and lighting, gives businesses the opportunity to continue to upgrade their displays and capture the public’s attention.
“The Business Expo provides member businesses an affordable annual showcase to promote their products and services,” Mr Pineau says.
The event, initially established as a programme by the Buy Caymanian committee of the Chamber of Commerce, continues to give businesses a platform to inform consumers about the benefits of shopping locally.
Whether businesses unveil new products and services, launch special promotions or provide consumer information to the public, the buy local theme is the main focus of the expo.
The value of the expo to local companies is reflected in the diversity of products and services on show over the years. This year, as in the previous years, the event is sold out with over 40 exhibitors from all industry sectors.
LIME, which has been a major supporter of the show for many years, will be this year’s title sponsor.
The Business Expo has evolved into a state-of-the-art showcase with many businesses from small start-ups to large multi-national affiliates investing tens of thousands of dollars to promote the latest consumer products and services.
Most businesses now consider the Chamber’s Expo a mandatory date on their marketing and promotional calendar because of the high level of sales that takes place during the three day event, says Mr. Pineau.
He adds: “Consumers enjoy receiving information about the latest products and services that are available right here at home.
“The Expo can be considered Cayman’s largest annual shopping mall. It is an annual event not to be missed.”
