Virus-ridden computers, problems with Windows or radio broadcast equipment breakdowns – these are all issues in which Mark Danziger and his new company Caytronics specialise.
Mr. Danziger set up Caytronics last September and since then has been offering on-site services for people with computer, audio or data systems at their home or offices.
“We do all office and home computer repairs, IT services and broadcast engineering,” Mr. Danziger explained.
The company also does regular computer backup of critical files for residences and businesses.
Caytronics works with radio stations in Cayman to maintain and repair systems and studio equipment.
The company also rents PA systems for events and offering audio recording services, and can also install and repair satellite dishes.
Mr. Danziger has more than 32 years of experience in electronics, computers, and radio, having gotten his start building a Heathkit Stereo with his father and becoming a stereo buff in his teenage years.
Trained in electronics in the US Navy, while stationed at Pearl Harbour, he served nearly four years at sea as an electronics technician, repairing and maintaining shipboard communications and radar systems.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Danziger worked as a communications system technician with Milcom Systems Corporation, a US Department of Defence contractor.
His interest in diving brought him to Cayman on holiday in 1996, during which he saw an ad for a service technician engineer at Radio Cayman. He got the job and went on to design and re-install all the on-air and production studios, as well as installing the transmitters and link systems.
He steered the station’s transition from analogue to digital audio editing and system automation, and built Radio Cayman’s first web page.
Last year, with a partner, he started Caytronics, a broadcast engineering, home and office computer network systems and audio services company, which recently became one of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce’s newest members.
