2011 Year in Review
The Chamber is bringing our membership an exciting opportunity to participate in the fourth Trade Mission to Panama on March 19-23, 2012.
The last one took place in 2008 and was very well received by all those that took part.
Since the first Panama trade in 2003 an estimated US$20 million worth of trade in goods has transpired. Panama infrastructure has continued to improve over the past 6 years with cargo and shipping services facilitated by two companies; Seaboard Marine and the SeaFrieght Line.
We have established an excellent Cayman Panama connection which has evolved well beyond the sourcing and importation of goods from the Colon Free Trade Zone. An impressive level of international financial business is also being transacted between our countries as more attorneys, bankers, accountants and hedge fund managers discover the advantages of working together.
For those of you who may be interested in joining the Cayman contingent you will be treated to a welcome reception or “Cayman Night” on the night of your arrival which allows you to meet with new and existing Panamanian business contacts.
The rest of the week will be planned to allow for trip to the Colon Free Zone, a huge duty free entity at the Atlantic gateway to the Panama Canal, dedicated to the re-export of an enormous variety of merchandise to Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as two days to visit the EXPOCOMER Business Centre with commercial missions from Africa, America, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe representing more than 2,500 companies available for commercial opportunities.
Other highlights will be the opportunity to visit the Panama Canal and other sightseeing activities. All in all this will be an eye opening trip for anyone who attends.
