2011 Year in Review
We connect our members to the community through a variety of programmes and events.
We do this by creating greater awareness of our sponsoring members whilst providing an excellent way to give back to the community through education and self-improvement programmes, environmental awareness initiatives, educator and student appreciation awards, and fun high profile events.

The Legislative Luncheon
The Chamber had a packed house for the Legislative Luncheon on September 28, 2011 held at the Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa. More than 250 people came together to listen to Chamber President James O’Neill and the Honourable Premier McKeeva Bush speak on the current issues facing the Cayman Islands.
The unique benefit to this event is the chance to mingle with legislators in an informal setting over lunch.
The Future of Cayman Public Private Partnership economic development initiative was the focus of this event leading the Premier to remark “I am glad, actually really glad to see that the Chamber has this initiative, and going forward I think in the end it’s going to do a whole lot of good for the Government and the community as a whole”.
The Professional Development & Training Centre
The PD&TC is undergoing some exciting updates to its course offerings for 2012. Through an in-depth training survey that was released in July we have garnered some excellent feedback from our members to identify their greatest needs for professional development.
We have also added two more facilitators and have successfully partnered with Key Consulting, Shirlaws, and Body Now 4 Mums & Kids for some additional innovative courses.
The Business Expo
41 businesses participated in the 19th annual Chamber Business Expo opened by the Premier and Title Sponsor LIME. From artwork to electric cars, from donuts to flu shots, from real estate to boats – there was a diverse range of businesses on hand to share their expertise and products. Prize drawings and product demonstrations continued throughout the two-days and proved popular with the thousands of attendees.
Leadership Cayman
Leadership Cayman graduated 18 participants in 2011 and is now entering its third year. As the programme progresses we have see an even greater interest from the community and our recent selection process for the 2012 programme was a very difficult one with 40 worthy applicants and only 25 places available.
This year’s seminar topics include Media in our Community, Criminal Justice, Education & Workforce Development, Sister Islands Perspective, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Cayman Islands Government, Human Services & Health Care, Financial Services, Stay over & Cruise Tourism, Infrastructure & The Environment, and Cultural & Performing Arts. Last year’s successful application for Class project was received from The Hope Foundation who acts as a bridge for recovering addicts as they’re-enter society and play their part as productive citizens.
