The Junior Achievement Annual Awards banquet took place on Friday, 18 May, 2012 at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
This year saw a record number of attendees, which included Governor Duncan Taylor; Minister for Education, Training & Employment Rolston Anglin and Mrs. Anglin; Linda Rimer, president and CEO of JA Americas and Asia Pacific; and the Keynote Speaker Garth Arch, this year’s YCLA recipient.
The evening started with a view of the Achievers’ company reports and products while Miguel Escalante photographed the Achievers’ in their finery free of charge. As the evening unfolded and Arch took to the stage he shared a rare story of another entrepreneur, Christopher Columbus, who went on to achieve greatness in his life while facing adversity from others to believe in his dream.
The evening culminated in the awards presentation for the Officers’ of the Year, Sales Person of the Year, Company of the Year and the Next Generation Leadership Award recipients.
The success of this current year can be attributed to the participation of the students and the dedication of the over 120 volunteer advisors from 12 companies/organisations that have sponsored the programme.
Each year we see thought provoking products, new marketing concepts, trials and errors and a great sense of accomplishment for all involved. Just ask any Achiever and they can tell you the experience has transformed the way they think about their own futures.
