Dart’s lead

Main Story:  Infrastructure enables economic growth

The For Cayman Investment Alliance is a public-private partnership between the Cayman Islands government and the Dart Group that uses an innovate approach to bringing about positive development in tandem with addressing the accompanying infrastructure demands.

Dart intends to redevelop the former Courtyard by Marriott into a new four- or five-star resort. The group also plans to explore creating a second hotel in the future in the Seven Mile Beach corridor.

To facilitate the hotel development, a section of West Bay Road will be closed.

The group plans to build out future phases of the Camana Bay development, including residential components such as town homes, single-family residences and condominiums.

Dart is working on extending the Esterley Tibbetts Highway to Batabano Road in West Bay. Dart also will extend Reverend Blackman Road to connect the highway to Willie Farrington Drive.

The agreement with government also provides for a new road to Barkers National Park, and for Dart to waive compensation rights on the future Airport connector road.

As part of the agreement, Dart will close and remediate the existing George Town landfill and fund the setup for the first phase of a new waste management facility in the district of Bodden Town.
Dart has also agreed to give the government money to fund community programmes.
