Andrei James Challenger and James Rolin Challenger, who are charged in the animal cruelty case involving a dog named Dora, appeared in Summary Court on Thursday where they received a new court date.

The two men will next appear in court on June 21 for a case management hearing before a trial date is scheduled.

Both men have pleaded not guilty. Andrei Challenger is charged with cruelty to animals, causing unnecessary suffering and failing to exercise proper care and supervision. James Challenger, his father, is charged with causing unnecessary suffering and failing to exercise proper care and supervision.

Dora suffered extensive burns. The pregnant dog lost her litter as a result of her injuries. She later recovered from her burns and was adopted by a new family.
