West Bayers volley indoors again

Indoor volleyball has returned to West Bay.

The West Bay Community Sports Committee is staging the 2012 West Bay Community Volleyball League. Matches are taking place at the Sir John A Cumber Primary School hall.

Games started earlier this month and continue every Saturday night from 7.30pm. Contests continue until the end of March, with the finals tentatively set for 14 April.

Competition is split up into a youth and adult division. The adult segment features six teams in Above the Net, Jumpers, North West Point, Scholars, Wesleyan Christian Academy.

Last year, Above the Net (with basketball players like Nicholas Roberts and Nigel Ebanks) claimed their second straight adult title while Young Blazers (featuring budding sportsman Tevin Yen) were the youth division winners. From there two West Bay all-star squads earned a split with a pair of East End select teams that had talent like Anthony Bodden, John McLean Jr and Curtis Welcome (East End also organized a community volleyball competition).
