Tracey Seymour hopes to get to China in May to fight at the World Championships and Cayman’s top female boxer is being really proactive concerning fundraising. Seymour, along with trainers Troy O’Neil and Donie Anglin and boxers Aaron Powell, Peter ‘Lightning’ Lewison and Diego Rodriguez did demonstrations on the pads for curious motorists on the roadside beside the Lion Centre last Friday and raised $600 in only an hour. Also there to support the effort were Shania Randall, Trisha O’Connor and Leyla Jackson.

Seymour will be demonstrating her punching prowess again on the streets of George Town on Friday to raise more funds towards her travelling expenses. She said: “The money I raise is not just for my travelling expenses but for all the boxing federation’s expenses because we need to travel abroad to be in the top tournaments and that, obviously is very expensive.”

To prove Seymour’s point about having to travel to face top opposition, Kendall Ebanks and Tafari Ebanks both lost on points in their first round matches at the Independence Cup in the Dominican Republic earlier this week.

Dariel Ebanks has settled well in his high performance training camp in Cardiff, Wales. Dariel is there for three weeks and will go to the final Olympic trials in Rio de Janeiro in May hoping to get to the London Games in July.
