Cayman’s Women’s Under-20 national footballers may have lost all three games, but some of the youngsters made an impression on watching scouts.
Head coach Joe Supe said the exposure the players received is the real benefit and that several college coaches from the U.S. are interested in Cayman’s top talents.
“There’s at least seven scouts that I know from colleges from the universities in Florida,” Supe said. “I met the coach from Florida State and they were impressed with a couple of the ladies and I think they’re going to offer an invitation for those players to come out.”
He said the reach stretches much farther than just Florida, however, as this is a major tournament that has attracted coaches and scouts from afar.
“There was a coach from Kentucky University as well who was impressed with some of our players. Now we’re looking at student-athletes having an opportunity to play in the United States with a college scholarship. So I think that’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone.”
