Victor “Voot” O’Garro recently represented the Cayman Islands at a regional conference.
O’Garro attended the Caribbean Basketball Confederation 2014 Congress in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jan. 18. Fifteen of the 23 members of the CBC attended, including the national member federations/associations of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Virgin Islands. O’Garro is the technical director for Cayman basketball.
The congress laid the foundation for this year’s activities to include competitions, clinics for coaches and referees and developments in FIBA and FIBA Americas. Chief among them was the new CBC U15/U16 competition format, beginning in 2015.
