Local dominoes is marching ahead this year.
Island All Stars notched a big 12-point victory over the Singh’s Roti Shop team last Sunday. The match was part of the Cayman Islands Domino Associatiuon 2014-2015 national league. It was a team effort for both squads. The match referee was Ian McLaughlin, assisted by George Dixon.
East End Mystical Youth beat Archies by 40 points last Sunday. The star players for East End were Perry Ebanks and Foster McLean, while Archies relied on Dareen Ebanks and Kael Leslie. The match referee was Sheena Taylor.
The next set of scheduled matches will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9, in George Town. At Ultra Bar and Lounge, Mystical Youth take on Ultra, while Archies Bar sees Archies battling the Roti team.
Domino lovers are encouraged to take part in fundraising efforts over this holiday weekend. Dubbed the “Knockout Challenge,” the event – sponsored by the Jacques Scott Group – will offer prizes and a raffle. It starts out with a Ladies versus Men tournament at Singh’s Roti Shop on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 3 p.m.
After that comes the Team Knockout Challenge at Mango Tree Bar on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 3 p.m., which features Mystical Youth, Eastern Star, the Roti team, All Stars, Archies and Ultra. The top four teams in the national league close off the event with the Jacques Scott Knockout on Monday, Jan. 27, from 2 p.m.
