CrossFit Muscle Beach has had a good response to the launch of its Corporate Challenge and is looking forward to the start of the six-week program.
Several large companies – including BritCay and Samson & McGrath – have entered some of their employees for the $99 per head program of three workouts per week.
The five disciplines in each workout are the baseline CrossFit routines of running 400 meters, sit-ups, air squats, pull ups and push ups.
The entry fee includes a fitness test and assessment, before and after pictures for those who want to improve their shape, and entrance to an awards cocktail party to congratulate the winners.
Entrants go to World Gym on West Bay Road to get their CrossFit workout recorded and the highest scorers get a share of the $1,000 total cash and prizes on offer.
It starts on Aug. 18 and World Gym owner Tersh Broderick who runs CrossFit Muscle Beach there said that a coordinator has just joined the program who is really piquing interest.
“It’s exciting,” Broderick said. “The big talking point will be who is the fittest in your workplace. The challenge is interesting and people will get fitness results as well, that way they will talk about it and tell their friends.”
Trevor Amodeo is the head coach on the Corporate Challenge. “I think this is going to work because, basically, people will crawl over each other if they can get points to win something,” he said.
“It is a personal challenge and if you put a prize in front of it people will rise to the challenge.”
Amodeo added that there are already many corporate employees that do CrossFit who will be attracted to the Corporate Challenge.
The buzz about the Corporate Challenge is building since first highlighted in this paper a couple of weeks ago, he said.
“When you break it down, it costs only five-and-a-half dollars per class,” Amodeo said. He is the CrossFit Latin America masters champ. “There is huge value in that.”
At the start of the competition, people’s measurements and body fat details are taken to assess their improvement at the end of it. There will be a prize for the most improved athlete.
The competition is explained to everyone and all safety aspects explained.
